Many of the factors that cause a person to experience kidney failure. Based on the findings of a new case, a 56-year-old man suffered kidney failure is suspected because of the habits of drinking iced tea every day.
Doctor Alejandra Mena-Gutierrez of the University of Arkansas judge, kidney failure will not occur if the tea is not consumed in excess.
"If you are healthy and drink tea in moderation, it should not cause damage to the kidneys," Gutierrez said as quoted from Livescience.com.
At first, the man complained of pain and feel weak in May 2014. Then the doctor took the man's urine sample. The result, in the male urinary calcium oxalate crystallization are high enough or kidney stones.
The unnamed man was also no family history of the disease of kidneys and kidney stones.
The man was admitted to the doctor that every day could spend 16 glasses of iced black tea. Black tea is rich in tea oxalate, a compound that can cause kidney problems if consumed in high quantities.
The doctors later concluded that excessive consumption of black tea that causes kidney failure.
"With 16 cups of tea every day, the daily consumption of oxalate can be more than 1500 milligrams. This is higher than the average consumption of Americans," wrote the researchers.
