Are we at risk of leukemia?

  • Exposure to high levels of radiation
  • Repeated exposure to certain chemicals (for example, benzene)
  • Chemotherapy
  • Down Syndrome
  • A strong family history of leukemia

Symptoms vary depending on the type and stage of leukemia, but they can include the following:

  1. Fever, chills, night sweats and other flu-like symptoms
  2. Weakness and fatigue
  3. Swollen or bleeding gums
  4. Headaches
  5. Enlarged liver and spleen
  6. Swollen tonsils
  7. Bone pain
  8. Paleness
  9. Pinhead-sized red spots on the skin
  10. Weight loss
